Penguins Voice to Sit Out Start of NHL Season; More of Jakub Voracek wanted from AV and Crawford Retires!
HEADLINE: PENGUINS ANNOUNCER MIKE LANGE WILL SIT OUT START OF SEASON
HEAD-LINE: Along with Mike Emrick, Lange has been one of the most distinguished and innovative play-by-play men in America. At age 73, he deserves a respite and should return as strong as ever. (No play-by-play guy on either side of the border has been more creative than Lange.)
HEADLINE: ALAIN VIGNEAULT WANTS MORE OUT OF JAKUB VORACEK:
HEAD-LINE: A.V. is one coach who's more right than wrong. He hits the bullseye when he hits his offensive ace with that verbal push. The thing with Voracek is all about his "Pizz-azz Level." Vigneault may not get another ounce out of it because it's as high as it will ever go!
HEADLINE: PANTHERS EXPECT TO MAKE PLAYOFFS WITH ALL THEIR ADDITIONS:
HEAD-LINE: A post-season berth sure would be a welcome change for the playoff-starved fans in Sunrise. I believe in The Law of Averages (LOA) and if any team in any sports should obey the LOA it's the Cats. Yes; they make it this season.
HEADLINE; PETER DEBOER EMPHASIZES DEFLECTIONS
HEAD-LINE: Smart. We're in the Dirty Goal Era where front-of-the-net madness is more intense than ever. Pistol Pete is on to something. Trouble is, so are 30 other coaches.Â
HEADLINE: JAMES NEAL NOT LISTED IN OILERS OPENING LINEUP.
HEAD-LINE: That's addition by subtraction.
HEADLINE; LINDY RUFF SAYS OF COREY CRAWFORD, "SOMETHING WAS DEEP IN HIS MIND."
HEAD-LINE: The Devils' coach is right-on with that observation. At the proper time and place, Crawford will open up and explain what was "deep in his mind" when he decided to walk out on New Jersey.
HEADLINE: FRANS NIELSEN MAY NOT CRACK DETROIT'S LINEUP:
HEAD-LINE: That's sad for a couple of reasons starting with the fact that Frans should have finished his career with the Islanders. Franzy was one of the best defensive forwards -- also Shootout Specialist -- in the NHL. It all went kaput in the Motor City. Some team should take him and he'll be an asset. Â
HEADLINE: ISLANDERS WILL BE GIVING MORE WORK TO NOAH DOBSON:
HEAD-LINE: The young defender impressed with his two-way, cool, calm, collected performances last season. Coach Barry Trotz sees a future ace in Dobby. Expect him to deliver as hoped.
HEADLINE: CONNOR MCDAVID SAYS NHL'SÂ RETURN IS GOOD FOR MORALE:
HEAD-LINE: The Oilers superstar came up with a super statement: "In this pandemic, many people are stuck at home and need something to do." Watching hockey is a morale-essential just as it was when the NHL chose to play during World War II.
