Lundqvist Surgery A Success; B's New C; Liking the Bernier-Greiss Duo In Detroit; K'Andre Miller Suprise?
1. HEADLINE: HENRIK LUNDVIST'S OPEN HEART SURGERY OK.
HEAD-LINES. Whether Hank becomes a Hall of Famer or not -- still debatable -- is another story, the fact that his operation was successful is good news all around. What matters, Caps-wise, is whether he'll ever be in NHL shape to play for Washington.
2. HEADLINE: PATRICE BERGERON NEW BRUINS CAPTAIN:Â
HEAD-LINES. Sure, it looks good on paper. After Bergie is as solid a two-way player that there is. But leadership? Who knows? This much is certain; Bergeron is no Zdeno Chara. Never will be. B's will miss Chara big-time and not just because he's big, his leadership was nonpareil.
3. HEADLINE: DEVILS REGAIN SAMI VATANEN:Â
HEAD-LINES: Move by move, Tom Fitzgerald is showing he's the right general manager for New Jersey. Vatanen is a solid D-man who'll bolster the Devs back line. Question in Newark is what's with Corey Crawford's departure.
4. HEADLINE: BERNIER-GREISS GIVE DETROIT A GOOD CREASE CORPS:Â
HEAD-LINES:Â
This is by far the best chance for Thomas Greiss to prove the "Greiss Is Nice" theme and become a true Number One. Jonathan Bernie will be an adequate back-up. It's the chance Greiss has been waiting for and he'll do right by Steve Yzerman.
5. HEADLINE: WHY DAVID QUINN IS SMILING
HEAD-LINES: The "critics" don't expect the Rangers to make the play-offs.Â
That's good for Blueshirts coach Quinn who has the "sleeper" team of the East. Watch for big Broadway surprise when gifted K'Andre Miller makes the varsity on the New York defense.
6. HEADLINE: LUCIC LIKENS FLAMES TO CHAMP BRUINS
HEAD-LINES. As the most overpaid NHLer, Milan has a right to dream, can't he?
