Dressing the correct, sartorial way also has been a prideful National Hockey League custom since the Toronto Maple Leafs won their last Stanley Cup.

And even before that.

"We wanted our players to look like gentlemen," said Maple Leafs boss Conn Smythe, "not like a bunch of bums."
